Captain Ephraim C. Loud, born about 1808 in Maine, a child of William Loud Sr. and a Miss Hall, married Julia Ann Perry, July 24, 1831, probably in Orrington, Penobscot County, Maine. They had at least nine children: Ephraim P.; Louisa Y.; Abiel P.; Henry W.; Annie M.; Susan A.; Julia E.; William W.; and Sara D. Ephraim Carter Loud, a master mariner, died December 15, 1876; his gravestone in the Dean Hill cemetery shows his wife Julia and several children.
