After selling the ranch in 1974, he began estate and business planning with Pacific Life Insurance Company. Retiring from the insurance business in 1985, Wayne became the sales manager for the Hiway Garage in McArthur. In 1999, Wayne and his wife, Betty, moved to Chico. He became a Life member of the Chico Elks Lodge #423, the Sons in Retirement – Branch 110, the Chico-Leland Stanford Lodge #111, and joined Canyon Oaks Country Club.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty, his three daughters and their spouses, Margo and Wayne Norris of Cayton Valley, Nancy and Bruce Teramoto of Chico, Brenda and Vince Ericksen of Chico; his six grandchildren, Beau Norris (Jeanne), Dixie Geissner (Landon), Kyle Teramoto (Holly Brott), Kaile Teramoto, Derek Avrit (Heather Smith), and Brian Avrit; six great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Wayne was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing with all of his golf buddies. He made friends easily, will be remembered for his outgoing personality, and as a loving husband and father.
