Dan was born August 6, 1935 in Kansas City, MO the son of Paul and Helen (Welton) Cunningham. He was baptized at the First Christian Church in North Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Special Forces, spending one year in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1957. In 1958 Dan was hired at Honeywell and served his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker until his retirement in May, 1995. During this time he took 12 years off and was an agent for Farmers Insurance in Harrisonville. He was a member of the Grand River Masonic Lodge No. 276, Freeman, Missouri. Dan married his soul mate, Lee A. Pohlman on January 7, 1989 at the Harrisonville United Methodist Church. Dan loved fishing and took several trips with his boys to Canada. He was also an avid deer hunter and loved getting together with his son and grandson the night before opening day, planning their strategy. He was a very proud papa when Brandon shot his first deer at the farm. Dan loved to visit with his coffee buddies every morning and teased the girls at Cardiac Rehab he attended for almost 11 years. Although he didn’t like extra attention on him, he loved celebrating his birthday and Christmas with our growing and loving family. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Elaine Pohlman, and brother-in-law, Clint Fueston. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lee, of the home; children, Danny Cunningham, Jr. (Jan), Freeman, MO, Tom Cunningham (Keri), Lee’s Summit, MO, Phillip Cunningham (Trish), Macks Creek, MO, Amie Cunningham, Overland Park, KS, and Heather Eickhorst (Hans), Harrisonville, MO; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Diane Fueston, Brandon, SD and Deb Cholick (Hugh), Duluth, GA, and father-in-law, Leland Pohlman, Brandon, SD
