Young Henry Coffey was born on 22 September 1867, in Alabama, United States. His father was William Abner Coffey and his mother, Martha Jane Rodgers. He married Malinda "Linnie" Reese on 18 November 1891, in Johnson County, Texas. They moved to Denton County, close to Green Valley, Aubrey area by 1900. He and Linnie Reese had at least two children, Myrtle Coffey and Dillard Melvin Coffey. He died three months after his wife Linnie Reece and burial was next to her in Green Valley Cemetery.

His Father was William "Abner" Coffey he was born ca. 1809 in N.C. and died Aug. 1878 in Alabams. He came to Texas with his mother and 5 siblings ca. 1880.
