Catherine (Kay) Phelps, age 87 of Buhl, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.
Catherine was born July 19, 1913, in Lucile, Idaho, the daughter of Henry and Capitola Elfers. She was raised in Lucile and attended Cow Creek Grade School. In her early teens, she moved to Portland, Ore., where she attended high school. For many years Catherine resided in Twin Falls and was employed at the Hunt relocation camp. From Twin Falls she moved to California. She met and married Wallace Phelps in 1946. The couple resided in California until returning to Buhl in 1973. Catherine (Kay) and Wallace enjoyed fishing and were avid bowlers, winning many league and state titles.
She was preceded in death by Wallace in 1978 and a daughter, Arlene Buschek in 1995.
Survivors include two grandsons and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday. Dec. 29, 2000, at Farmer Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery.
