Elmer H. Heald, Jr.
AUGUSTA --- Elmer Herbert Heald, Jr., 56, of 43 Capitol St., died Saturday May 29, 1965 in Thayer Hospital, Waterville. He was born Nov. 12, 1908 at Smithfield, the son of Elmer H. and Julia Cosgrove Heald. He owned and operated Heald's Diner in Gardiner for many years. He was a member of Hermon Lodge, AF & AM, of Gardiner. Survivors include a son, Christopher, of New York; two daughters, Mrs. Roger H. Gagne of Augusta and Miss Virginia M. Heald of New York; his parents, of South Gardiner; a sister, Mrs. Leona Levy of Augusta; two grandchildren; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home 15 Flagg St., Augusta, where friends may call.
AUGUSTA --- Funeral services for Elmer H. Heald, Jr. were held Tuesday afternoon at 15 Flagg St. with the Rev. Charles E. Karston, pastor of Christ Church Episcopal of Gardiner, officiating. Delegations attended from the State Liquor Commission Enforcement Division. Bearers were Earle B. Burrill, Lorne W. Ladner, Lloyd E. Wiles and Richard M. Danforth, all from Hermon Lodge, AF & AM, of Gardiner. Burial was in Bien Venue Cemetery where the Rev. Mr. Karsten gave the committal service.
