Dorothy dropped out of school in the eighth grade. She moved with her parents to "Draper Springs" from camp Seven, near the community of Glenwood, Washington. In 1942 her family was forced to leave the area because her dad. George Harter was laid off and her brothers were drafted into World War 2. She had to go to work to support her Mom dad and her younger brother "Dutch". She got hired to be a help in the shipyards. That is where she met her future husband, John Winnicki. She became a housewife until she had a daughter. In later years she worked at Swifts Hot dog meats Company. Still later John and Dorothy divorced. She went to work in a nursing home in Longview,Washington. She is survived by her daughter Karen.
