Warren Harding Lee, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28th, 2016 at his home after a prolonged battle with cancer. Married for over 65 years, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret Whittington Lee and their cherished daughter, Etta Lee Matthews; and brothers Turlington Lee, William G. Lee, Herbert Lee and Thames E. Lee.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 1st, 2016 at 11:00am in Wake Chapel Christian Church, Fuquay-Varina, NC with Pastor Ross Marion presiding.

Warren Lee was born in Wake County on December 3rd, 1921. He is survived by his sisters Mitchell Lee Lawrence and Bonnie Lee Baker and also family member Sara Young, son-in-law Brian Matthews, grandson Edward Warren Matthews and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

As a veteran of WWII, Warren was attached to the 331st Infantry, 83rd Division. After completing Army Ranger training he took part in the Normandy invasion, Battle of the Bulge and several other campaigns. For service to his country he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals.

Immediately following the memorial service the family will receive friends at Wake Chapel Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to commemorate Warren may consider making a contribution to the non-profit Veteran's organization, Military Missions in Action, (MMIA, 411-B North Judd Parkway, NE Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526).

The family is grateful to Hospice (Transitions Life Care) of Wake County, and various caregivers who include Diane Pully, as well as Sandra Johnson's Touch of Love Health Care.
