At an early age, she was baptized at the New Home Baptist Church in Barnwell, South Carolina and was a faithful member until her health failed. She was the President of the Usher Board, and loved to serve the Lord.
She graduated from the Butler High School in Barnwell, South Carolina, and later furthered her education at the Orangeburg Calhoun Technical School in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she received an Engineering Associate’s degree in Tool and Dye Machinist. She was an active member of the OES Rising Star Chapter 284 in Barnwell, South Carolina.
She was employed at Shuron Textron in Barnwell, South Carolina and the Savannah River Plant in Aiken, SC as a Machinist for many years. She was a member of the International Machinist Union at SRP. After leaving Savannah River Plant, she worked at the Barnwell County Highway Department and later went to work at Barnwell County Detention Center as a Corrections Officer for many years. After retiring, she worked part time in Security.
One daughter, Alisa Williams, four brothers, Thomas Williams, Philmore Williams, Ernest Williams, and Theodore Williams, and one sister, Gladys Cave precede her in death.
She was married to Tillman Wright, Jr. “Sam” for 46 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Tillman Wright, Jr. “Sam” of Barnwell, South Carolina; two daughters, Phyllis A. Washington of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sylvia Wright (David) Reeder of Knoxville, Tennessee; one son, Anthony Wright of Barnwell, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Devon and Davari Reeder of Knoxville, Tennessee; one sister, Onetha Holly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; five sisters in law, Shirley Williams, Barbara Wright, and Susie Williams of Barnwell, South Carolina, Ruth Williams of Brooklyn, New York, and Anna Williams of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; one brother in law, Sam G. (Lindell) Wright of Barnwell, South Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.
