Herman Phillips
passed away on June 9, 2017 at Trinity Hills Assisted Living. He was a member of Bethel AME Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. Herman was a Brick Mason by trade. Being self-employed afforded him opportunities to work with many companies as Johnson & Galyon, Denmark Construction and Rentenbach Constructors Incorporated to name a few.

Preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Pauline Phillips, parents, Oscar and Beulah Mae Phillips, sisters, Easter Mae King and Judy Phillips and brother, Elza Phillips.

Left to cherish his memory: son Herman X. (Bernice) Phillips; daughter, Joyce Phillips-Minter; stepchildren: Michael (Glenda), McBrady (Sharon) and Jacqueline Andrews and Kimberly (Eddie) Williams; sisters, LaVerne and Alberta Phillips.

Thursday, June 15, 2017, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with funeral to follow at Bethel AME Church at 3811 Boyds Bridge Pike Knoxville, TN 37914. Reverend Lee Russell Brown officiating. Interment to follow at East TN Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway, where a white dove release and military honors will conclude the service.
