Obituary for Barbara Brennan

Barbara Brennan (nee Couzens), a native of Detroit, died peacefully, June 11, 2017. She was 86 years old. Barbara was born January 12, 1931 in Detroit to Margaret (nee Lang) and Frank Couzens, former Mayor of Detroit.

Barbara received her nursing degree from Wayne State University and practiced nursing in Detroit. She was a member of Brother Rice Mothers Club and Bloomfield Open Hunt Club. Barbara volunteered at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and enjoyed spending time with her family.

The family thanks the devoted staff of Nursing Unlimited for their care and support over many years.

Barbara is survived by her children, Moira Brennan, Leo J. Brennan, III, Margaret β€œMeg” Singleton and Kevin Brennan, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Couzens and brother, Frank Couzens, Jr. Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leo J. Brennan, Jr. and parents, Margaret and Frank Couzens.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln, Bloomfield Hills, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 12 noon. Friends may visit at church beginning at 11:30am. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in L’Anse, Michigan.
