Hazel Elizabeth Cox Leonard, 95, of New Tazewell, Tn., formerly of Lancaster, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 in Tennessee. Born January 1, 1922 in Gray, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late James Alexander & Laura G. Moore Cox. She had been a homemaker, an active member of Lancaster United Methodist Church and was the widow of Rev. Ralph Wesley Leonard. Hazel fulfilled numerous roles as a pastor’s wife in the churches which were served by Rev. Leonard. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Jean Bolton, and nine brothers and sisters.
Her survivors include two sons, Stanley (Gail) Leonard of New Tazewell, Tn., Michael (Shelia) Leonard of Danville, a son-in-law, Charles Bolton of Bowling Green, eight grandchildren, Richard Brian (Liana) Leonard of Sanford, NC, Steven Dean (Cristy) Leonard of Phoenix, Az., Amy Beth Leonard- (Devon) Kim of Atlanta, Ga., Ashley Elizabeth Leonard of New Tazewell, Tn., Wade (Jennifer) Wiggins of Owensboro, Michael (Hilary) Bolton of Atlanta, Larry (Sharon) Bolton of Bowling Green, Chuck Bolton of Bowling Green, 14 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Rev. David Terry. Burial will be at 2:00 PM at the Cox Family Cemetery in Gray, Kentucky . Pallbearers will be Richard & Steven Leonard, Michael, Larry & Chuck Bolton, & Wade Wiggins. Visitation will be from 6—8 Monday, June 19, 2017 at the funeral home. Contributions in lieu of flowers may go to the Lancaster United Methodist Church, if so desired.
