Velma Lucile Thomas,
age 92, of Colburn, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Mulberry Health & Rehabilitation Center. She formerly lived in Richwood WV; Santa Monica, CA and Lafayette.

Born on December 1, 1924 in Curtin, WV, she was the daughter of the late Johnathan A. Taylor and Mamie M. (Boyce) Taylor. She graduated from Richwood High School.

Velma married Howard Vernon Thomas in Lafayette on January 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1989.

She retired from Globe Valve in Delphi where she worked in assembly for 23 years. She was a member of Colburn United Methodist Church and Order of Easter Star (Worthy Matron). She loved gardening and baking.

Surviving are her son: Keith I. Thomas (wife: Madeleine) of Carmel, a brother: Donald Taylor of Ronceverte, WV, a grandson: David M. Thomas and two great-grandchildren: Maggie Rose Thomas and Harper Quinn Thomas. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Wilma Groves, Louraine Kempke and Thelma Taylor.

No services are scheduled at this time. Interment in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens to be held at a later date. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
