He served his country in the U S Navy from October 1957 until October of 1963. Charles was employed as a sales representative in the Food Industry for 34 years and served as president of Georgia Frozen Food Council for a number of years.
He was involved in his community. He served as president of the Morrow Lake City Civitan Club, President of the Adamson Junior High PTA, and served as president of the Morrow High School Booster Club. He enjoyed golf, college sports, coaching recreational football and softball, playing and umpiring recreational softball and playing church league softball. He was a diehard fan of Georgia Tech and loved his part time career working for Georgia Tech sporting events 22 years.
Charles loved his church family and was ordained as a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Forest Park at the age of 22 and served for 7 years. He later served as a deacon at the Rock Baptist Church in Rex, GA for 17 years. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, GA for 17 years and proudly served as “Mr. President” of the Young Again Sunday School Class of 10 years.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 – from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Statham officiating.
Interment will be on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with military honors.
