The Rev. George S. Altvater, 70, died Feb. 26, 1999.
He was a native of New York City and a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1992,
coming from Bohemia, N.Y.
Prior to retirement, the Rev. Altvater was a Lutheran minister serving with
the Missouri Synod.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Miriam; a son, Richard of Port St.
Lucie; daughter Jane Duda of East Islip, N.Y., and Christine Mitchell of
Centereach, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
SERVICES: Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at
Young & Prill Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie. Funeral services will be held at
2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Pierce, with Pastor
Ronald P. Engel officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
