Carroll, Madeline T, -"Maddie" - 84, of North Cape May passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Maddie has been a resident of North Cape May for the past 45 years after moving here from Philadelphia. A woman of great faith, she was a devoted member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Cape May. Maddie enjoyed spending time with her family, loved supporting her grandchildren in all of their activities and had a special place in her heart for all animals. Throughout her time in Cape May she enjoyed working at some classic establishments like Dellas and Westside Market. Her love of Cape May was evident in her long daily walks along the mall and beach where she met and made friends throughout her adventures. Maddie and her husband enjoyed their retirement traveling in their motorhome to Florida. She was one of the toughest women, incredibly caring and had a gift of making everyone fell like family. Her will and faith in God was unyielding which was evident in how she handled life's difficult times, especially in the end. A special thanks to Cape Regional Medical Center and Victoria Manor for their excellent care and sincere compassion. She is predeceased by her son, Michael; brothers, Joseph and Thomas Shelmire and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Cronin. Maddie is dearly missed by her loving family which includes her husband of 63 years, Stephen P Carroll; children, Kathryn(and Thomas) Porter, Stephen J(and Paula) Carroll and daughter-in-law, Fiorella Carroll; four grandchildren, Stephen(and Jamie), Anthony(and Dana), Rachel(and Constant) and Kyle; one great grandson, Lucas; brother, Albert Shelmire; as well as many nieces and nephews.
