Broyles wife is actually the only one who is buried here. His body was donated to science.
Broyles Sumner McQuary, son of the late Hiram Sumner and Lula F. Broyles McQuary, was born August 13, 1904 in Macon, and died at the Dexter Memorial Hospital September 4, 1993, at the age of 89.
Mr. McQuary had been a resident of Dexter since 1923. He was a retired Insurance Agent with the Modern Woodmen of America Insurance Company and owned and operated the H-R Block tax service in Dexter before his retirement. He was a member of the Dexter Masonic Lodge #532, a member of the Scotish Rite and the Shriners. He was a long time member of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce and the First United Methodist Church in Dexter.
On March 23, 1925, he was married to Ada Mildred Ray in Dexter. She preceded him in death July 2, 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne H. McQuary and Dwight R. McQuary, both of Dexter; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Leslie McQuary of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Reba Hardy of St. Louis; and Beula McQuary of Desoto; and many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service is to be scheduled at a later date. All arrangements will be handled by Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter.
Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Dexter.
