Jason "J.C." Clay Howard

Jason Clay Howard peacefully passed from this world to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2017.

J. C. was born October 9, 1930 to Sewell and Cora Howard in Oakdale, Tennessee.


After graduation from Oakdale High School, he served in the U. S. Army before he began his career of 36 years with Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he served as a supervisor in the signal electrical department. J. C. was a member of the Red Bank church of Christ.


He was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Westmoreland, and his wife of 48 years, June Adkisson Howard.


He is survived by his wife, Nancy Branum Howard and his children, Leah (Don) Ezelle of Knoxville, Landon (Lynne) Howard of Roanoke, VA, and Lamar (Morgan) Howard of Chattanooga. Stepchildren , Bill (Grace) Branum, Gary Branum, and Sherilyn (Steve) Johnson. Grandchildren, Matthew and Daniel (Heather) Ezelle, and Garrett, Ben, Jaclyn, Addison, Clara, and Jason Pierre (J. P.) Howard. Step grandchildren, Bo (Bethany) Branum, Nathan Grossman, and Carly (Chad) Moletress. Step great-grandchildren, Miles Branum, Beckham and Finley Moletress.


J.C. enjoyed golf, gardening, watching the Tennessee Volunteers, and especially visiting with his family and friends.


The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tennessee (North Chapel) on Wednesday, June 14 from 3 pm to 7 pm. The funeral will be Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with ministers Steve Lusk and Tommy Stone officiating. Internment at Chattanooga National cemetery will follow.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Red Bank church of Christ mission fund or the American Heart Association .


Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
