Bryan J. Reid, 59, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center after battling cancer for over two years.

He was born on August 15, 1957, in Lake Placid, New York, to James E. Reid and Beverley Marion (Pratt) Reid.

He graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1975.

He joined the United States Army in 1976, and served his country for over 11 years.

He was united in marriage in Okinawa, Japan on June 19, 1981, to Mary Ann (Stone) Reid of Jefferson City, Missouri who survives at the home. Bryan and Mary welcomed a son, Joshua Michael, in 1983.

Bryan worked in law enforcement as a police officer for over 20 years for police departments in Orange and New Salem, Massachusetts, Jefferson City Police Department and finally as a Lieutenant at the Holts Summit Police Department. He was devoted to his brothers and sisters serving in law enforcement and relished the challenges and camaraderie of his career choice.

He will be remembered by his family for being strong willed and strong minded, courageous, and most of all, kind and fair. He had an innate sense of what it meant to be a good and decent human being and to always try and do the right thing.

Bryan was the oldest of seven children born to the late James “Bugo” and Beverley Reid and he enjoyed keeping in touch with his surviving Mother and the lives of his very active siblings and their children.

A memorial service celebrating the rich and full life of this good man, husband, brother and son will be held in Lake Placid, New York at a future date.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 2413 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
