Frances Joan Hancock, 88, of Remington, passed away at 7:15 AM, June 14, 2017 at IU Health Arnett Hospital of Lafayette.

She was born November 24, 1928 in Rensselaer, IN to the late Cecil and Mae (Rowan) Lee. She was a 1947 graduate of Rensselaer High School.

Her marriage was to Robert M. Hancock on April 1, 1949 in Rensselaer. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1986.

Joan was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority in Remington, treasurer of Christian Woman’s Fellowship, member of First Christian Church of Remington, and member of the Dorcas Club. She worked for 34 years as secretary and bookkeeper at Farmers Cooperative Elevator of Remington.

Joan enjoyed spending her time reading, working on jigsaw puzzles, attending sporting events for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all, Joan loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Dian Flinn of Remington, Barry (Wendy) Hancock of Wolcott, and Mandy (Kent) Hall of Wolcott. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Don (Barbara) Lee of Mulberry, IN, Helen Bender of Rensselaer, and Nancy Bailey of Rensselaer.

Preceding him in death along with her parents and spouse is a sister, Ruth Lee; son-in-law, John Flinn; and grandson, Jeff Flinn.
