Ron was born September 5, 1927 in Neodesha, Kansas to Philip R. and Martha (Mawson) Payne. He attended local schools and Pittsburg State University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics. Ron was also a veteran of the United States Army. Ron was employed as an Engineer in the Aero Space and Petroleum Industry.
He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, V.F.W Post # 1186, American Legion and Independence Country Club. Ron enjoyed playing golf and played the trumpet in the Army Band and later played Jazz in local area bands
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rita Payne. Survivors include his daughter, Debra and husband Jerry Horner, Sand Springs, OK; two grandsons, Peder Horner, M.D. and wife Holly, Denver, CO; Todd and wife Cicily Horner, Sand Springs, OK and two great-grandchildren Hannah and Bennett Horner, Denver, CO.
