Please join us as we celebrate the life of our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother/ aunt Renee T. Dodge who passed away after a lengthy illness on the morning of May 18, 2017 in San Diego CA. Renee was born on February 9, 1941 in North Hollywood California, the middle of 3 children, to parents Renny McEvoy, actor and writer of Dixie Dugan, a nationally published comic strip from early last century, and Pamela Sweeney McEvoy.

One time Renee relayed a story from her childhood that while growing up the family would have frequent trips to the Imperial Valley to relax with friends hunting and fishing and basically to get away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood life but she did not share their passion for the outdoors so she considered those trips "boring"; but little did she know that in her future she was going to end up settling into the Imperial Valley for most of her adult life after marrying her soul mate, Robert "Bob" Dodge when they moved to the Imperial Valley in 1964 to help start up Interstate Security Systems.

For her occupational life she helped manage Interstate Security and was a book keeper for Bob's other business, Goodalls Imperial Charters until his death in 1995. As for hobbies, she liked to take family trips to the beach every Sunday in the summer and every winter going out to the desert to ride motorcycles. She was a member of a motorcycle club back in the 1970's run by Bob and Joyce Hill of the old Suzuki shop that was on Imperial Avenue enjoying her Saturday"road rides", in which she travelled on her Honda motorcycle all over Southern California and Tecate Mexico.

She also loved her arts and crafts, especially crochet. She also was an active member of St. Mary's Parish where she loved to sit in her favorite pew every Saturday 5:30 p.m. mass; she was very devoted to her faith and taught catechism and volunteered at the church's gift store for 17 years. She also designated herself as a "prayer warrior" praying for people who are in need of help with God's intervention as she does her daily rosary prayers.

Renee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert and son Kevin. She is survived by her sister Dr. Pamela McEvoy and niece Candy (Jerry) Watts of Borrego Springs, CA; her brother Michael (Marcia) McEvoy of Port Angeles, WA; her sister in law Denise Ruhlow of Burbank CA; her children Henry (Lydia) Dodge, Kim (Bobby) Wyatt , Amy (David) Morris of Imperial and Renny Currin and Robin Dodge of El Centro. Nephews Mike B (Celya) Anderson of Sherman Oaks CA, Jeff (Laurie) Thomas of Templeton CA and Kenneth (Debbie) Anderson of Nipomo CA, Micheal McEvoy of San Diego CA and Joseph McEvoy of Guam; her grandchildren include Renny Jr., Brandon and Pamela Currin, Dennis, Karl and Robert Wyatt, Kenny Morris and numerous great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and close friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. with Rosary beginning at 7pm, on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday June 1, 2017 at 9 a.m. at St Marys Catholic Church in El Centro with Rev. Mark Edney officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery El Centro.
