Cathy Lynn Hurd blessed her parents, Harrison Hurd, Jr. and Virginia N. Hysaw Hurd with her birth on March 2, 1960, in Denver, Colorado. She was the sixth child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Vernon, Franklin and her sisters, Harolyn, Jeanette and Carolyn. As a child, Cathy loved listening to music. She was one who observed her surrounding and played as thou she were shy.

She received her formal education in Denver. She received her GED from Emily Griffith School and furthered her education by attending Concord College. While in school, she received an award for being most considerate and perfect attendance.

In 1986, she united in holy matrimony to Charles Billups. The couple met in Aurora. The marriage was loving, honest and full of loyalty to each other. Cathy was the proud mother of two beautiful children, Sheriece and Dajuan. Sheriece remembers her mother as loving, nurturing and always there when needed. She fondly reflects on her mother teaching her to have strong moral values; to be independent and first rely on herself as well as be a woman of integrity. She also encouraged her to be a positive influence on her children and others.

Cathy was the proud grandmother of Kemari, Danae, Imani, Je'Vell, De'Oshana, Damara, Javion, Janai', Fulton, JaAnna, Camarie, and Samiah, and her three great grandchildren, Little Kemari, Jayla, and Ja'Hari. They all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly referred to her as "Gorgeous" and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they spent together.

By profession, Cathy was employed by Convergys as a Supervisor. She was hardworking, dedicated and a person who would never ask someone to perform a task that she first would not do herself. She carried a positive personality and performed all her duties with a spirit of excellence.

A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Cathy accepted the Lord as her personal savior. She was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. She truly believed that it was important to have the right relationship with the Lord.

Cathy was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed watching movies, reading, and entertaining her family with "TV Talk." She truly enjoyed listening to music and could be referred to as a Musical Doctor.

Cathy was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. Her closest friends, Debra and Deborah will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that she a true and genuine friend. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman. To know Cathy was to love her.

She is preceded in death by a grandson, Je'Vell.
