MADISON - Margaret Lacy Gorman, age 93, died on Monday, August 17, 1992, at Attic Angel Nursing Home in Madison. She was born In Fitchburg, Wisconsin on March 7, 1899, the daughter of William and Ella (O'Dea) Lacy. She graduated from Edgewood High School In 1918. She then attended Whitewater State Teacher's College, Columbia University, New York, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and received a primary teaching degree. Margaret taught at rural schools in the Basco and Oak Hall areas, in Madison schools, Marquette and Lincoln; and retired from teaching after serving at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
She married Arthur E. Gorman on August 9, 1941, at Saint Raphael's Cathedral. Survivors Include a sister, Blanche Lacy of Madison; her sister-in-law, Genevieve (Vincent) Lacy of Fitchburg; two nieces, Mary (Jim) Faber, and Fran Lacy; two grandnieces; two grandnephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973, her sister Eleanor (Raphael) Purcell, and her brother Vincent Lacy. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace, It's Queen's Guild, and Saint Mary's Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 405 South Owen Drive at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 1992. Father Edward Erbe will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 1992, at JOYCE FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at Attic Angel and Eileen Kohls for their many kindnesses to Margaret.
