Vicki R. Nelson, age 65, of Oklahoma City, OK, left us on Monday, May 1st, 2017 in her home in Oklahoma City. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK on July 13th, 1951 to parents, Jess “Pete” Willard Harris and Marion Pauline “Penny” Harris . She worked as a barber most of her life before her retirement.
Vicki was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer and Squamous Cell Throat Cancer in November of last year. She began rigorous chemotherapy and radiation for the Small Cell Lung Cancer and had recently completed that. She was scheduled to begin radiation and chemotherapy for the Squamous Cell cancer in the next few weeks and she was dreading it. The treatments were very, very hard on her.
Although her passing was unexpected, we know that she is resting now and doesn't have to face those treatments again and that brings us peace.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce Marie Lively.
Vicki is survived by her daughter, Kimberly N. Awbrey of Yukon, OK; her grandchildren, Peyton, Brayden, Emerson, and Jess Awbrey; and her brother, Gary Dean Harris of Oklahoma City, OK.
