Charles William Abbott was born in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania on 18 February 1834. Sometime around 1864, he wed Emma Kuhns (alternate spelling: Kunsman). Their children were: William Henry Abbott (born 25 September 1855) and Harry C. Abbott (born in July 1860).

After being widowed by his first wife sometime after 1880, he remarried.

Second Wife: Melara C. Kase (1853-1931). Married on 18 April 1896 by Rev. B.M. Neill in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.

Occupation: Carpenter.


MILITARY SERVICE:

1. Co. G, 25th Pennsylvania Volunteers

2. 47th Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861-1865:
Rank In: 1st Lieutenant Company K. Promoted to Captain of Company K on 22 October 1862. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel (second in command of the entire regiment, 3 January 1865).

DEATH AND INTERMENT

DEATHS. ABBOTT. Entered Into rest, March 29, 190S, Colonel Charles W. Abbott, aged 74 years, 1 month and 11 days. Funeral services at his late residence, No. 117 North Law Street, on Thursday afternoon at 2 p. m., to which the relatives, friends, Allen Lodge No. 71, I. O. O. F. and surviving soldiers of the Forty-seventh Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and Company E, Second Regiment, S. of V. Reserves, are respectfully invited without further notice. Interment in Union Cemetery.
