Cordia's first husband, Preston McCalvin “Cal” Fleming, was reportedly involved in the May 14, 1892 Pound Gap Massacre where 5 people were murdered. Reportedly he, his brother Henan and Marshall Benton “Doc” Taylor were the murderers. Doc Taylor hanged for the crime, Cal was killed in a shoot-out in Boggs, West Virginia and Henan was captured, taken back to stand trial in Wise County, VA. Henan “came clean” because there were no witnesses against him. He returned to West Virginia where he lived out the rest of his life.

Preston McCalvin “Cal” Fleming born 10/15/1869, died 1/14/1894 married Cordelia in 1889.

Cal and Cordelia had one child, a daughter, Lydia Lacosta Fleming Case(12/31/1890—12/29/1976),FAG 55222966, died in Clifton Forge, VA and buried in Black’s Chapel Cemetery, Camden On Gauley, Webster County, West Virginia.

After Cal was killed, Cordelia married Bryant Washington Francisco in 1898, who was her step-brother, the son of George Washington Francisco, the second husband of her mother Ceattie Hall Cook. Bryant Washington Francisco (8/23/1870—9/15/1966) FAG 180214026 is buried in the Francisco Cemetery in Ashcamp, Pike Co. Ky along with Cordelia (“Cordia” on death certificate).
