Eunice Kinney married John Phillips, license was applied for on 15 Jan 1818 and marriage was on 30 Jan 1818. Before I get into the lineage of John Phillips, let’s place this Eunice in parentage and where she fits into birth order.

Based on the month and year of marriage and the youngest age we’ve seen girls get married at that time in that area of being at least (or in some cases barely 15 years old) this Eunice would have to have turned at least 15 by mid Jan. So counting backwards she would had to have been born no later than Jan 1803 or Dec 1802 + or -. Now clearly she can be older as well, but that 15 years old puts a maximum limit to it.

We have only the first 3 sons of Israel Kinney to choose from for parents. Stephen and Merab as possibilities are out of the realm of possibility as their Eunice, or possibly "Bernice" (a typo or mistaken transcription from the original writing I suspect) married George Grass in 1811.

Next we go to Israel Jr. and Abigail Cram. While only married a short time till his demise that occurred no later than 1806. They do have the opportunity to be included, as there were no children of theirs already named Eunice, but the 5 they had were in usual spacing orders. The oldest Mary Ann was born in 1794. Then Israel lll in 1796. Elizabeth “Betsey” that married Murray Boone for her first husband, was born about 1798/99 and then Susan(nah) that married Samuel Havens first and then her Cousin Eunice's widower husband George Grass 2nd was born in 1801. The last born was James in 1803. That would mean that if this Eunice was Israel Jr.’s ,she would have to have been born in possibly 1804 or 1805, making her 13 at time of marriage in 1818, entirely out of the question.

Nathaniel and Elizabeth Mills first had Nathaniel Jr. in mid-late 1795. Then next child and first girl was Harriet that married Simeon Williams, was born in early 1798, then there is a big gap in birth spans until Maria that married the Scotsman William MacFarlane, and Maria was born by all her census reports, save one, in 1803 (probably early in the year), followed by Asa born in 1804/5 and then the others . Nathaniel and Elizabeth didn’t have any other daughters named Eunice, and clearly a birth event should be in the 5 year + or - span between 1798 and 1803, even if those dates are squeezed a few months closer to each other. This is the only probability of who Eunice belongs to, and likely born from anywhere late 1799 to early 1801, settling on for the sake of argument in the middle at 1800. I’m not surprised that she would have missed making the book from Bell at the time it was written, as the only true written citation to prove she existed is the marriage record.

Eunice married John Phillips who was the youngest son of the Loyalist Thomas Phillips. This John was born about 3 years after his oldest nephew, Frederick Phillips 1st born child in 1791 to John’s oldest brother Zopher, and this Frederick married Mary Kinney, daughter of Israel and Susannah.

Unfortunately Eunice didn’t live long after her marriage to John Phillips and I have found no evidence of any offspring, as at best there could have been only one. The same John Phillips remarried just barely over one year later in Maugerville on 10 Feb 1819 to a Rebecca (Weaver the transcriber thought) but in actuality WEIS based on other records found. They remained married and had children, migrating first into Ontario in the late 1820’s then down into NY State briefly and finally settling in Wisconsin.

Information provided by Cousin Jerry Kuntz , a Kinney cousin descended from two sons of Israel, John and Asa.
