DAVID CHARLES WORKMAN, 58, of Raleigh Durham, N.C., went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2017 following a long illness. He was born July 5, 1958 in Huntington, W.Va., and grew up in Genoa, W.Va. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1977 and retired from the military in 1997 as a Sergeant Major training reservist in heavy equipment. David loved woodworking, gardening, and mechanics, and was a great fan of Conway Twitty.

He was preceded in death by his father, Julius Workman; and two sisters, Penny Workman and Vickie Workman Purden.

He leaves behind his mother, Elizabeth J. Workman, of Genoa; one son David (Jennifer) Workman, Jr. of Durham, N.C.; two grandchildren, Destiny and David Ryan Workman; four brothers, Kenneth (Mary) Workman of Ala., Gordon (Catherine) Workman of Genoa, Fred Workman of Genoa, and Michael Workman of Portage, Penn.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Big Lynn Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Gordon Workman officiating. Burial will follow in the Workman Aldridge Cemetery, Harts Creek, W.Va. Friends may call after 10 a.m. at the church.
