Obituary for Randle Chambers

Roy Randle Chambers was born March 3, 1931 in Pershing, Iowa the son of Eddie and Zella (Light) Chambers.

At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Army. Randle served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in November of 1951, having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. On March 3, 1952 he was united in marriage to Alice Berneil Vande Kamp at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Randle drove a truck for several years. In June of 1960 he purchased a tire shop and named it Randle’s OK Tire. He owned and operated the shop until 1979. Randle sold cars for Ron Perdock for a short time, before taking a job with 3M. He retired from 3M in September of 1992.

Randle had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking around with family and his many friends. He and Berneil enjoyed day trips to casinos during retirement. He also enjoyed watching the neighborhood from his garage and visiting with friends that stopped. Randle and Berneil’s greatest joy was spending time with their family.

Randle passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his home, at Homestead of Knoxville, at the age of 86 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; 4 sisters and his grandson, Jeffrey Wayne Chambers.

Those left to cherish Randle’s memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Berneil; children: Randy (Sheryl) Chambers and Kathy Bellon all of Knoxville; siblings: Lila (Dean) Donohue and Jean (Bill) Vande Kamp all of Knoxville; 4 grandchildren: Steve (Stacy) Bellon, Jr., Scott (Monica) Chambers, Jodi Bellon (Dalton Roland) and Todd (Kelsi) Chambers; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Funeral Services for Randle Chambers, age 86 of Knoxville, will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville Lions Club Avenue of Flags.
