Lisa Marie Gillespie, 47, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away at 12:58 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007, in University of Colorado Hospital following a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Born July 18, 1960, in Rockford, the daughter of Michael and Marie (Sciacca) Ambruoso.

Lisa graduated from Rockford West High School and Keiser Career College in Florida. Moving to Denver, Lisa completed the Health Unit Coordinator program at Emily Grifith Opportunity School in 1996.

Lisa was employed by the University of Colorado Hospital. She worked in the pulmonary immunology unit.

In addition to those duties, Lisa also trained all new patient service coordinators and specialty clerks since 1998 and coordinated the monthly PSC Council meetings and in-services. She also served as a teacher in the Health Unit Clerk program at Emily Grifith School, where she served on the health advisory board.

Lisa donated her eyes so that two eye recipients would be able to see.

Survivors include: her cats, Skylor and Levi, she called them her "boyz"; twin sister, Laura Callaway; brothers, Carl Ambruoso and Jim (Carole) Ambruoso; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins; and friends.

Funeral service on Saturday, August 4, 2007, in Olson Funeral Home. Burial in Graceland at Willwood Burial Park.
