"Gene," as he went by to loved ones and friends, was a Journeyman Welder, and retired as Lead Welder from the Clinton Power Plant, after 60 years.
He married Marie Cooley in Mattoon, IL on September 15, 1945, she survives. They later moved to Fairland, just outside of Villa Grove, where they tended their own large garden and orchard for many years. Though they had no children, they were especially close to several nieces and nephews throughout the years.
Gene was an avid musician who played Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin, and French Harp (Harmonica). Many joy filled days were spent playing music with his brother Dennis, and nephew Mark.
Roy Eugene Bryant was a WWII Navy Veteran.
Cremation rites are being accorded. Joines Funeral Home, Illinois 130 South, Villa Grove, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Jordan Cemetery in Fairland.
