Rose Mary Ramaekers
March 12, 1934 - June 09, 2017
A vigil will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Umbarger. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A memorial service will be at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Nazareth, Texas.
Rose Mary Ramaekers was born on March 12, 1934 in Groom, Texas to Leonard and Alma (Herzog) Conrad. They moved to Nazareth, Texas in July of 1948. She graduated Valedictorian of her class from Nazareth High School in 1951 and attended music school in St. Louis, Missouri that summer. She married Vincent Ramaekers on September 16, 1952 and moved to Umbarger where they raised their 5 children. She attended West Texas State University where she received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Education. She taught a variety of classes at the elementary level for Canyon ISD from 1969 - 1994, after which she was an instructor of music methods classes at WTAMU and taught private piano lessons. She was involved in music ministry at Catholic churches in Nazareth, Littlefield and Umbarger for more than 60 years.
Rose Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Ramaekers, her parents, grandchild, Nicole Scott, and grandson-in-law, Kendrick Powell.
Survivors include her children, Henry Ramaekers and wife, Linda Jo, of Canyon, Debbie Wieck and husband, Kenneth, of Colorado Springs, Elaine Scott and husband, John, of Amarillo, Sharon Rainwater and husband, Randy, of Floydada, and Linda Byrd and husband, Robert, of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Mitzie Brockman and husband, Cyril, of Nazareth, Ted Conrad and wife, Jeannie, of San Angelo, Colette Hoelting and husband, LeRoy, of Colorado Springs, Suzie Bacon and husband, Howard, of Amarillo, Tom Conrad and wife, Brenda, of Colorado Springs, and Angie Venhaus and husband, Clyde, of Canyon; and various in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to the WTAMU Catholic Student Center, 2610 4th Ave. Canyon, TX 79015.
