Marilyn Kay Fox, daughter of Louis W. and Anne C. Hirlemann, was born August 17, 1948 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Battle Creek. She attended grade school at St. Philip’s Catholic School and graduated from Menomonee Falls High School in Wisconsin. She went on to further her education at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh.

Marilyn was married to James B. Moyes from 1971 to 1990. Two children were born from this marriage, Michelle and Katherine.

On July 11, 1992, Marilyn was united in marriage to Bob Fox in Harlan, Iowa. She taught at the Shelby County Catholic School for many years. She loved to teach and her lessons often stretched beyond the classroom. She was an artist and perfected her calligraphy, often lending her talent to make an event special and memorable. Bowling Bag tournaments and anything to have fun with friends, creating many memories. She worked with her husband Bob as he grew his business.
Marilyn always stayed close to her faith and family. She loved the time spent taking the boat out with her family and attending her grandkids’ activities. She was also a foster parent to seventeen children, some of whom remained in her life.

Marilyn did everything with gusto. She enjoyed taking random trips, coining the phrase “post card” vacations, most recently to New Orleans. She was an avid card player and was never far from a deck with canasta and liverpool as her favorites. Halloween and Christmas were her favorite holidays. She also loved volunteering for the Red Cross.
Marilyn died peacefully at her home following a 19-month disagreement with cancer, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 9, 2017 attaining the age of sixty-eight years, nine months and twenty-three days. She was preceded in death by her parents and James Moyes.

She has left to cherish her memory, her husband Bobby J. Fox of Harlan, Iowa; daughters Michelle and her husband Jack Dill of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska; Katherine and her husband Kipp Nachtman of Atlantic, Iowa; grandchildren Alison Dill; Ethan, Colton, Jacob, Kade, and Olivia Nachtman; siblings Sr. Eloise Hirlemann of Detroit, Michigan; Louis Hirlemann and his wife Nancy of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; Jean and her husband Robert Dienhart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; other family members and many friends.
