Linda J. Stubbs, age 76, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

A native Delawarean, Linda was born in Wilmington on August 25, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Woodall and Jane (Megginson) Sheats. She was a member of the William Penn H.S. graduating class of 1958. Linda made her career as a bookkeeper with the former Brosius-Eliason Co. for 35 years. She then accepted a position as a clerk with the Municipal Services Commission in New Castle, where she worked for 10 years before retiring.

Linda was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in New Castle. She was an honorary member of the Good Will Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. In her younger years, Linda enjoyed dancing with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and adored animals, especially her faithful feline companion, Smoky. Above all else, Linda was a loving and devoted mother, sister, and friend who will be very dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra L. Stubbs. Linda is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Stubbs of New Castle; siblings, Woody Sheats (Dorothy), Pat Pickhaver, and Sandy Young (Dan), all of New Castle; and longtime friend, Gina Olliver (Mike), of New Castle.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Glebe Cemetery, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Linda's memory may be made to the Good Will Fire Company - Station 18, 401 South St., New Castle, DE 19720.
