William Cyrus Comer was a farmer and house carpenter who was married three times. His wives were: (1) Mary Alice Switzer who died in 1885, (2) Sarah Jane (Jennie) Gleason, who died in 1891, and Mary Ann Poor/Pore (3). Children with Mary Alice Switzer included: Maude, James, Claude, and Pearl. Jennie Gleason Comer died just after giving birth to her only child, Jennie Mae Comer, in 1891. William remarried and lived in nearby Hendricks County, Indiana with Mary Ann Poor, a Quaker lady. Following Mary Ann's death in 1920, William returned to Rensselaer where he lived with his two unmarried sisters, Rachel Elizabeth and Mary Rebecca Comer, in their Cullen Street boarding house. He died in 1926. His stone is next to his sisters, Rachel and Mary, and his daughter, Pearl Comer Myers and Pearl's husband, George M. Myers. As of 2018 I have been unable to locate the burial location of his second wife, Sarah Jane (Jennie) Gleason.
