TURNER RITES TOMORROW

Final tribute to the memory of A.L. (Bud) Turner, early day cowboy and pioneer rancher of the Panhandle, will be paid tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock when funeral rites will be held from the Channing Catholic Church.

Mr. Turner died yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.A. Sullivan, 733 North Mirror Street, following an illness of six weeks. He was 76 years old.

Pallbearers will be Roy Turner, Edward Turner, R.A. Sullivan, R.C. Ware, J.W. Mode and P.E. Edwards.

Burial will be in the Channing Cemetery.

Mr. Turner came to the Panhandle in 1881 with a herd he was trailing from Dodge City, Kan., to Pecos County, New Mexico. He returned a few months later to work for the LS Ranch at Old Tascosa.

He became a deputy sheriff of Oldham County soon after its organization in 1889. Later he served as tax assessor, then as county treasurer, and for 17 years was a member of the Oldham County commissioners court.

He had operated a ranch near Tascosa for more than 40 years remaining active until a few weeks ago.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Sullivan and Miss Veda Turnaer of Amarillo; three sons, Roy and Edward O., of the ranch home, and Fred Turner of Amarillo, and a sister, Mrs. J.J. Choate of Douglas, Ariz.

The body is in state at the Hoxwell Brothers Chapel.
