Betty Lou Crabtree

Betty Lou Crabtree was born October 31, 1934 and departed her earthly shell on May 31, 2017 reaching the age of 82.
Betty was the second oldest of eight children born to Walter and Maude Denney. She met her husband of 68 years, Oakley Crabtree, at church. They were married on November 5, 1949 – she being 15, and him, 18. At age 15, she had her first child.
They were blessed with four children: Mary (Howard) Souders, Oakley Jr. (Rebecca) Crabtree, Jerry (Patricia) Crabtree, and Shawn (Krista) Crabtree; seven grandchildren: Jarritt Sharpe, Michelle (Randy) Morrow, Jason Souders (to Mary); Josh (Sara) Crabtree, Adam (Amanda) Crabtree (to Oakley Jr.); Kirkland Crabtree (to Jerry) and Austin Crabtree (to Shawn); six great-grandchildren: Chayton and Cade Sharpe (to Jarritt), Tanner Morrow (to Michelle), Sylvia and Eli Crabtree (to Josh) and Harper Boneta (to Adam).
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters: Goldie Hancock and Joyce Creason.
Betty is survived by her husband and all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Judy Jones, Jewell Roberts, Linda Wasson, Wendell Denney and James Denney.
Betty was a faithful member of the Cooper Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, June 2nd from 5:00 – 9:00 pm and Saturday from 7:00 am until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3rd at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home on North Main Street, Monticello, KY. Burial will be in the Crabtree Cemetery on Cooper View Road.
