Smyrna, SC – Katherine Hughes Feagin of Smyrna, SC passed away at Levin’s Children’s Hospital on May 18, 2017. Katherine was born in Rock Hill, SC.
Katherine was the daughter of David Harold Hughes of Kings Mountain, NC and Doris Feagin Hughes of Smyrna, SC.
She was a 2012 graduate of York Comprehensive High School. Katherine was a huge fan of Bucky Covington. Katherine loved singing with Bluegrass Gospel group the Pinetucketts. She called them her “Boys”. She introduced them to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital. She peacefully went to Heaven listening to them singing songs of praise.
There has never been a better example of a fighter. From the day, Katherine was born she fought for every breath she took. She never complained about or questioned any of the pain she faced daily. She brought so many smiles to this world throughout her young life. Katherine touched many lives with those smiles and positive attitude. Everyone she has ever met loved her.
The family would like to express their gratitude and love to Dr. McKay who made her last days comfortable. Also, special thanks go to Dr. Hanson, Dr. Parker, Dr. Abram and PA Rock Munsee. And the nurses and staff at Carolina Medical Center and Levin Children Hospital. Each have had a special meaning to Katherine throughout her life. The family rejoices that Katherine is in Heaven with no more pain, no more not being able to run and play, and be the person she has longed to be.
Katherine is survived by “Bentley” her favorite doll, her brothers Jerry Eugene Feagin (Dahel) of Summerville, SC and David Wayne Hughes of Charlotte, NC. And her sisters Edith Feagin of York, SC, Janice Feagin Warlick ” Sister” (Ken) of Leslie, SC, Wanda Feagin Wood “Nana” (Ted) of Smyrna, SC, Donna Hughes of Clover, SC and Darlene Hughes of Kings Mountain, NC. Her close and special friends Lisa and Kara Duggins. Her dogs Scuffy and Boo Boo.
The family will receive friends on Sunday May 21, 2017 from 1:30 pm to 3 pm at Union Baptist Church 1945 Ratchford Road, York, SC 29745. Funeral service will immediately follow at 3 pm at Union with Rev. Ray Long officiating. Interment will be at Union Baptist Cemetery.
