In 1947 Dan began a long career with Westinghouse Electric, rising from salesman to manager of the Marine Power and Equipment Division. While working in Seattle, he met Helen Bernice Gavridsky. They were married in 1952 and had seven children. Helen preceded him in death in 2000, as well as daughters Jeanne (1996) and Susan (1960).
Dan was a man of faith and very active in the Catholic Church. He attended both Sacred Heart and Church of Ascension parishes when he lived in Saratoga, as well as St. Christopher when he moved to San Jose. He was a past president of the Church of Ascension Men's Club, and was instrumental in fund raising for their capital campaign in the 1970s. He also was a longtime member of the Saratoga Toastmasters Club, where he also served as president. Dan was a raconteur who enthralled all with his storytelling; some of his favorite topics included his life in Butte Montana, the Irish, and the Navy. His wit and humor will be greatly missed.
Dan is survived by his son, John Bartlett; and daughters Judie Bartlett, Mary Bartlett (Chris), Kathleen Lockwood (Dan), and Kerry Wreaks (Byron), as well as nine grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 PM Thursday, July 17th at St. Christopher Church, 1576 Curtner Avenue, San Jose. In honor of Dan's memory, remembrances are suggested in support of the St. Patrick's Fathers, 8422 W. Winsdor Ave., Chicago IL, 60656-4252.
