Motion Picture Director. Born in Roosendaal, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands, he was a director of mainly international films. He is best known for "The Assault" (1986), which won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Picture. After beginning his career during the 1950s as an actor in character roles, Rademakers made his directing debut with the 1958 film "Village by the River". His other credits include "That Joyous Eve", (1960), "The Knife", (1961), "Mira", (1971), "Because of the Cats", (1973), "The Judge's Friend", (1979) and "The Rose Garden", (1989). In addition to directing and acting, Rademakers was a producer and screenwriter. He died of complications from emphysema.
