Salt Lake Tribune, 1 Sep 1997, page B7. HEBER CITY -- Dorothy B. Turnbow, 87, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died August 28, 1997 in Heber City, Utah. Born October 1, 1909 in Fairview, Utah to Charles D. and Alice E. Stephens Barker. Married Horace F. (Bill) Turnbow June 19, 1929 in Coalville, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 24, 1960. He died October 7, 1970. Member LDS Church. Served in Sunday School and as a Relief Society teacher. She enjoyed her membership in the Heber Valley Ladies Riding Club. As an avid sportswoman, she enjoyed time spent with family and friends at the family cabin in Strawberry. A member of the ladies auxiliary of the Heber Valley Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed baking pies for friends and neighbors. Famous for her lemon meringue pie at the Burgemeister Restaurant in Midway. She lived a full and active life, retiring from a State Agency at age 72. Her later years were spent caring for her home, yard, and garden.

Survived by six children: Deana (Clive) Maxwell, SLC; Darlene (Gene) Probst, Midway; Mary Parcell, Heber City; Kent (Gale) Turnbow, SLC; Gaye (Joe) McPhie, Heber City; Mark (Jean) Turnbow, SLC; A special niece, Joyce Barker-Petersen, CA; 32 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren; sisters, Lola Jones, Heber City and Ruth Meranda, American Fork.

Preceded in death by her husband, three grandchildren, three sisters and six brothers. Funeral services Tuesday, 12 noon at the Heber 3rd Ward. Friends may call at Olpin Mortuary Mon., 6:30-8 p.m. and at the church Tuesday one hour prior to services. Burial Midway Cemetery.
