OWLS HEAD – Scott Winfield Young, 62, died following a long courageous battle with cancer, Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Rockland, December 16, 1954, he was the son of Robert and Lillian Grierson Young.

Scott graduated from Rockland District High School in 1973. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge he worked various jobs.

In his earlier years, Scott enjoyed motorcycle and horseback riding. He had a life-long love of mackerel fishing and could often be found at McLoon’s Wharf in Spruce Head. He was well liked by many friends.
He was a devoted son and brother, and since his father’s passing in 2011, he has spent hours caring for his mother’s property. He meticulously kept the lawn mowed and the gardens maintained.

Scott had a great sense of humor that brought a smile to and brightened the day of everyone he came in contact with.

Predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Clyde and Dorothy Young; his maternal grandparents, Chester and Marcia Grierson and his father, Robert L. Young in 2011; Scott is survived by his mother Lillian G. Young of Rockland; his children, Bridget, Christopher, Amanda and Joseph; his sisters, Cheryl Young of Windsor, Valerie Sanborn and her husband Fred of Waldoboro, Tina Jones and her husband Gary of Cushing; his grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Scott’s family would like to thank the staff at the Sussman House who made his last days so comfortable and for all the love and care they gave.
