Philip "Phil" Huff
(April 2, 1947 - June 8, 2017)

Philip “Phil” Huff, age 70, of Fairfield, passed away June 8, 2017, at the Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, IA.

Visitation for family & friends will be 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at First United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Todd Holman officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

Phil was born April 2, 1947, to Maurice and Reva (Williams) Huff in Fairfield, IA. He married Nancy Brown October 2, 1971, in Fairfield. This last year they celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Phil graduated from Fairfield High School Class of 1965. He graduated from Iowa State with an Ag Business Degree. Phil worked 46 years as a land improvement contractor. He was very proud to be able to work with his Dad and brother in the family business. Phil assisted farmers with land stewardship & soil conservation. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Phil enjoyed singing in the church choir and was a Methodist Church trustee and served on many church committees. He was a Center Township trustee and on the Board of Directors Jefferson County Mutual Insurance.

Phil was the happiest when he was outside on his dozer, working in the garden and taking care of the family acreage. He was an Iowa State basketball and football fan. While inside he enjoyed sitting down and reading a good book. Most important for Phil was spending time with the grandkids and taking family trips.

Phil is survived by his wife, Nancy Huff of Fairfield, IA; two children, Kara (Jason) Huff-Hartz of Carbondale, IL and Benjamin (Melissa) Huff of Fairfield, IA; 4 grandchildren, Owen Hartz, Amelia Hartz, Caleb Huff and Lucas Huff; 3 brothers, Jon (Patty) Huff of Fairfield, IA, Daniel (Ann) Huff of Durham, NC and David (Karen) Huff of Danville, CA; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Reva Huff.
