Born Jan. 6, 1924, in Brooklyn, NY, Bill was the son of the late Leo I. and Margaret (Geyer) Keyes. He was raised in Flushing, NY. He attended PS 107 and Bayside High School, class of 1942. Bill served as a navigator on B17 bombers in the U.S. Army Air Corps overseas in Foggia, Italy during World War II until his honorable discharge as a First Lieutenant in February 1946.

After his discharge from the Army, Bill pursued a B.S. in accounting from Pace College of New York City. He met and married Jeanne Marie Finn also of Flushing in July 1949. Bill and Jeanne moved to Berkeley Heights in 1959 and remained until 2002. For many years he was a Director at IEEE in New York, NY. He retired from Harris Structural Steel Co. where he was the comptroller.They bought a second home in East Dennis, MA in 1990 where he enjoyed golf and days at the beach on Cape Cod Bay.
