DENISON - Edward "Son" Finley Jr. 90-year-old Denison resident, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30 at Quinn Chapel AME Church in Denison with the Rev. Michael Braxton officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Finley was born on Oct. 28, 1917, in Denison, son of Edward and Emma Finley and attended Andersen schools. He was a World War II Army veteran, and a member of the 561st Composite Service Company. He was awarded the Good Conduct Victory Medal serving in the American Theater, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater and Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion 62 and the VFW.
Surviving are his niece, Joyce Collins Johnson of Denison; great-niece, Crystal Collins and Tiffany Wright, both of Denison; great-nephew, Malcom Wright of Denison; one great-greatnephew of Denison; and three great-greatnieces of Denison. Public viewing will be at Angelic Mortuary in Sherman all day Thursday.
