Mary Murphy Hassell, born in 1915 in New York City, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2013 in Palm Bay, FL. Mary was the widow of her beloved husband Herbert L. Hassell. She was a resident of Bridgeport, CT for 60 years and worked as a waitress at Read's Department Store until her retirement.
She is survived by her son Herbert E. Hassell, his wife Patricia and grandson David Hassell, of FL. Her daughter-in-law, Arlene Hassell, of Prospect, CT and three granddaughters: Debra Hassell, Sheryl Socha (husband Edward) and Michelle Kuba. She was also survived by three great grandsons, Daniel and Thomas Socha and Michael Kuba.
Mary was predeceased by her son Walter Hassell and two brothers, James and Timothy Murphy.
A memorial service will be held on September 1, 2013 at Trinity Hill United Church of Christ, 364 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT at 12:00 PM. Burial will be private at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield, CT.
