Bobbie Chapman Walker was born on October 8, 1941 in San Antonio, TX to Robert Lee, called “‘Bob”, and Sank Chapman Mayers. After graduating from Jefferson High School in San Antonio, she went on to Baylor University in Waco, Texas and later received her masters from Colorado State. After college, she followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a public school teacher. She taught English and World Literature in Edgewood ISD at Kennedy High School in San Antonio and ended her public school career at San Antonio ISD. In addition to encouraging students in her classroom, she served as the head of the English Department and as a member of different curriculum adoption committees for the English Department. Later, she taught English at Palo Alto Community College where she continued to share her love of literature and writing. Besides teaching, Bobbie enjoyed singing in the choir at First Baptist Church for several years and helping with their community ministries including teaching English as a second language. In addition to reading and music, she loved to garden, travel and bird-watching. She left two daughters, Bobbie Jo and Jimmie Lynn, and four grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 10:00am at Mission Park South, San Antonio.
