Charlene Phillips Young, age 77, of Rome, Georgia passed away on June 7, 2017 in a local hospital.

Charlene was a native of Jacksonville, Alabama, born November 1, 1939 to the late Charlie Phillips and Ila Bea Shealy Phillips. She was employed several years with Integrated Products, and later retired from Cornett Carpets. Charlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Conaway, and several of her siblings.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Jimmy Young; sons, Robert Dake, Rome, Lamar Alexander, Coosa, Anthony Alexander, Adairsville, and Daril Young, Rome; Brian Young, LaGrange; daughter, Nancy Massingill, Calhoun; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; brothers, Zack Phillips, Buford, GA; Paul Phillips, Birmingham, Ala., Alex Phillips, Jacksonville, Ala.; sisters, Jeanette Chandler, Jacksonville, Ala., Clara Jennings, Birmingham, Ala.; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Phillips and the Rev. Charlie Carney officiating. Interment followed in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family received friends 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome, Ga. 30165.

The creameted remains of her daughter Sheila Dake Conaway were placed at the foot of Charlene's casket and interred with her.
