Kenneth "Ken" Walton, of Willis and Cypress TX, was born July 9, 1952 in Houston, Texas and passed away peacefully on June 3, 2017 in Houston, TX. He grew up in Houston and Cypress, TX and graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1971. After graduation, Kenneth attended the University of Houston, and then joined the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Long Beach, CA. While in California, he met his wife, Linda Dawson. They married in 1973, and their first son, Kenneth (Kenny) Walton Jr. was born in 1977. Kenneth, Linda, and Kenny relocated back to Texas in 1979 and settled in Willis, TX. Their daughter, Valerie Walton was born in 1980, followed by their youngest son, Jeffrey Walton in 1984. Kenneth started his career with Occidental Petroleum in 1976. He stayed in his position when Occidental Petroleum became Island Operating, and eventually Apache. Kenneth was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2011, and retired at that time. Kenneth obtained complete remission and was able to spend a treasured six years with his family, friends and beloved pets. Kenneth is preceded in death by his father, Alonzo Walton, sister, Lonnie Lou Walton, father –in –law Bob Dawson, mother-in-law Beverly Hardy, and nephew Dustin Walton. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Walton of Willis, TX, mother Rosalie Walton of Huntsville, TX, son Kenny Walton of Willis, TX, daughter Valerie Walton Gibson (Todd) of Conroe, TX, and son Jeffrey Walton of Willis TX. Also left to cherish his memory are his precious grandchildren, Olive and Tate Walton of Arlington, WA, Micah and Camden Gibson of Conroe, TX, and Tristan Walton of Willis, TX. Kenneth also leaves behind his brothers, Roy Walton (Pam), of Oakhurst, TX, Lonnie Walton (Charlette), and sisters Patricia Lott and Carol Gunn (Franklin). Kenneth is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. He will also be missed by his beloved pets, which include the dogs he rescued. Kenneth will be remembered for his kind, generous spirit, heart of gold, unique sense of humor, and amazing ability to genuinely connect with each and every person who crossed his path. He was an inspiration to so many as he remained positive, hopeful and kind throughout his health struggles. He will be dearly missed, but leaves behind an unforgettable legacy that will remain in the hearts of all who held him dear. In lieu of flowers, Kenneth's family requests that donations be made in his honor to a cause that was near and dear to him: Homeless Pet Placement League.
